“There is an undeniable allure of what’s around the bend, just beyond view. Roads taken, others not. What haunts us more? Where did they start? Where will they end?
A child, at the beginning of life’s journey, running along a sidewalk. An Old World alley, teeming with stories to tell and secrets to keep. A young woman descending cathedral stairs, searching for faith. A sandy footpath leading softly to the shore. The wandering maze of a well-manicured garden purposely constructed to bring peace. The end of a pier, touching the horizon. The span of a bridge; a walkway carved through stone. A noiseless forest trail fashioned only by time and traffic.
An ancient river, still making its way through a grand canyon.
When I wander I can’t help but wonder: What would I see around that corner? At the end of that alley? Over the crest of that hill?
Paths, roads, trails – courses. Ways through and ahead. Some made by nature, others by human hands and minds. Tracks showing our need to explore, discover, go further, farther…just one more step.”
