Background

Phoebe Twichell Peterson is a contemporary landscape painter working primarily in oil, inspired by her connection to the sea and nature. She has had 5 solo shows, numerous group gallery shows along the east coast, completed two residencies, and is collected nationally. Since 2016, her studio has been at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, Virginia where she teaches and enjoys a large community of fellow artists.

Philosophy

"I paint because I cherish the creative process. I enjoy observing the effects of light, the nuances of color, and the abstract shapes in the world around me. Having grown up near the water in Massachusetts, the colors and serenity of coastal New England are often reflected in my paintings."
