In “Portraits”, Gene engages with the viewer by providing glimpses into the people of his life through abstract portraits. The circle within each piece serves as a metaphor for the individual while the compositional elements portray each person through Gene’s eyes. The interplay of color and the light & shadow on the textural elements makes these pieces as unique as a fingerprint or, in this show, unique as each person he portrays.
