  • Annette Harper

    Pilates Instructor

    Annette, a former fitness instructor nominated as 2015's Fit4Mom Instructor of the Year, is a lifelong athlete passionate about guiding others toward a happier life through the transformative power of exercise. Diagnosed with Degenerative Disc Disease at twenty-three, often associated with older adults, Annette found solace in Pilates, reclaiming mobility, flexibility, and the ability to walk. Her intentional practice centers on individual needs, blending humor and encouragement. Annette's journey not only overcomes physical challenges but also reflects the resilience of the human spirit.

  • Carol Stehl

    Yoga Instructor

    Carol Stehl is Workhouse's Art of Movement Director. She aspires to convey to yoga students the treasures of self-awareness, inner balance, and healing she has found through yoga. The body-mind-spirit connection is an integral part of her teaching, with particular emphasis on the breath as the connector. Carol loves guiding yoga explorers on their yoga journey while emphasizing the importance of following one's own inner teacher. Carol holds Yoga Alliance’s RYT® 500 E-RYT® 200 and YACEP® certifications. In addition, she is a certified SOMA (Science of Mindful Awareness) meditation teacher and a certified Katherine Roberts Yoga for Golfers® teacher.

  • Carol Tilford

    Pilates / Yoga Instructor

    Carol has worked in the fitness industry since 1994. Certified through ACE and AFAA for personal training/group exercise, and a full Pilates certification through STOTT Pilates(Merrithew). Carol also holds certifications in Surfset and Bodyblade.

  • Carolyn Patrick

    Yoga Instructor

    Carolyn is a former military child and recent transplant from New Braunfels Texas. She studied Yoga with the primary goal of making yoga and meditation accessible to veterans. She is currently on the board of Warriors at Ease and wrote a book during the pandemic called True Feathers: A Warrior's reflection on Healing and Peace. She hopes that every student who takes her class leaves feeling refreshed, relaxed, and balanced.

    Tai Chi Instructor

    Dan Moody is a retired 20-year USMC veteran and a student of martial arts beginning as a teenager. A fan of all forms of physical fitness, from resistance training to hiking the Shenandoah mountains, with Tai Chi being part of an overall fitness program.

  • Dawn Li, Ph.D.

    Qigong / Tai Chi Instructor

    Dawn Li, Ph.D. has practiced Tai Chi, Qigong, and meditation for over twenty years. The benefits she experienced led her on a path of natural healing where she studied Tai Chi under Jiachang Yang.

    Dawn has developed a distinctive style through her eight years of teaching. She inspires learners to discover their own flow and tune in to their body’s wisdom and healing power. She brings chants, music, poetry, and calligraphy to her practice and teaching of popular forms of qigong and Tai Chi such as Ba Duan Jin and Yang Style Tai Chi.

  • Debby Rotter

    Yoga Instructor

    Debby is a certified yoga instructor with many years of yoga experience as well as an established private practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She has had extensive training in the healing power of the breath both from the yoga and mental health perspectives.

  • Dianne van der Reydon

    Dianne van der Reydon

    Dance Instructor

    Dianne founded Occoquan’s Rockledge Assembly of English Country Dancers in 2015, following three decades as a heritage preservation specialist. She learned English Country Dance (“ECD”), made popular by Jane Austin movies and shows like Hamilton, Bridgerton, and Queen Charlotte, at historic Alexandria’s Gadsby Tavern, which houses the ballroom where George Washington danced. Dianne has since taught ECD on cruise ships, at schools, and in senior centers. Dianne also dances at local craft fairs and regional balls. ECD is a graceful, communal dance form, fun for the whole family (no partners required!).

  • Edie McArthur

    Pilates / Yoga Instructor

    Since retiring from a ‘desk job’, Edie has found her work happiness teaching and learning about yoga and Pilates. She feels so lucky to be doing what she is doing now and loves teaching classes and working in private training with individuals on a one-to-one basis. Edie has trained on all types of Pilates equipment and has over 500 hours of certified yoga training. When she is not working in the studio, Edie enjoys hiking and bicycling and experiencing the world at a slightly slower pace.

  • Iris McCray

    Soud Bath Instructor

    Iris McCray is a certified Sound Healer conducting sacred Sound Healing Sessions and Sound Baths in Virginia and Maryland since 2019. She comes to us from her ‘Sound Temple’ in Manassas, VA where she lives with her husband and her abundant instrument collection. Iris is divinely guided by the pure intent to serve for the Highest Good. This enables her to create the vibrational environment conducive to healing through elevated states of consciousness while being grounded.

    Rowing Instructor

    Linda is a Certified Rowing Instructor. She loves rowing because it works 85% of your body muscles at the same time—90% if you smile. So come have some rowing fun with Linda!

    Dance Instructor

    Sea is a strong advocate for diversity and inclusivity in dance education. Her teaching experience spans a diverse array of students including from collegiate-level dancers, K-12 students, seasoned professionals, seniors and individuals with physical disabilities. She expertly tailors her pedagogical methods to cater to the unique needs of each group establishing meaningful connections that foster the appreciation of movement and its inherent joy. As she continues to evolve as a dance teaching artist, Sea envisions a future where dance becomes more accessible to a wide range of individuals.

  • Sonia Monson

    Belly Dance Instructor

    Sonia Monson has been belly dancing for over 30 years and teaching belly dance for 23 years. She was a Dance/Fitness Instructor and Choreographer for the Norfolk Parks and Recreation from 1998 to 2018. She joined the Art of Movement team at the Workhouse Art Center in 2019. Belly Dance styles Sonia has taught include cabaret, folkloric, tribal, and world fusion. Dance prop instruction includes dancing with a veil, fan veil, cane, finger cymbals, sword, and lights. Her main mission is to help women of all ages find mental and physical health through dance.
