Lura Bovee

Workhouse Artist

Retired in 2012 from Fairfax County after over 30 years of service. She worked at the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board (CSB) and the Department of Family Services.  She designed, developed, and operated community-based mental health residential programs for adolescents, adults, and their families; managed projects such as the implementation of welfare reform, and the design and building of the Katherine K. Hanley Family Shelter. As a regional manager for the Children, Youth and Families Division she worked with County agencies, faith communities, schools, community-based organizations, and businesses to create services to meet unique community needs. Interested in the arts throughout her life, she is focusing on oil painting and has a studio at the Workhouse Arts Center.
