W-6: “Virginia Venues in Maps” by Kevin Poorman

March 2022 Featured Artist Kevin Poorman in building W-6.

Kevin's love of visual artwork stems from his early upbringing; he grew up working in his family-owned artist supplies and picture framing business in Southern Indiana. He fondly recalls the many artists in his youth who generously shared with him their precious time, creative talents and heartfelt passion for the visual arts.

Over the years, Kevin was drawn to pen and ink, acrylic and enamel as his preferred media. In his early years his compositions and style mostly focused on realistic landscapes and structures common to Southern Indiana.

During his middle years years his artistic interests turned to surrealism and expressive abstract. Of late, he enjoys creating folk-art-like renderings of cities and towns in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C.; scenes that make for his fun and interesting jigsaw puzzles.
