Step 1: Prepare Your Audition Materials

  • Choose a 32-bar cut of a pop or rock song that fits the style of the show. This can be from a musical or a non-musical source. Be ready to showcase your vocal range and personality!

  • Bring a headshot and an updated resume to your audition.

Step 2: Book Your Audition Slot

  • Secure your spot! Appointments are on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Step 3: Submit a Video Audition (if needed)

  • If you’re unable to attend an in-person audition, video submissions are welcome!

    • Email your video to: lizcolandene@workhousearts.org

    • Use the subject line: “JCS Video Submission”

    • Include the following details in your email:

      • Your name

      • The role(s) you’re interested in

      • Whether you’d like to be considered for a swing/understudy position

    • Submission Deadline: Videos must be received by 5:00 PM on Friday, February 14th.

Production Details

  • First Read: February 21st, 2025

  • Rehearsals: Weekday evenings and weekend days

  • Run Dates:

    • Opening Night: May 10th, 2025

    • Closing Night: June 15th, 2025

    • Performances: Fridays and Saturdays at 8 PM, Sundays at 2 PM

    • No performance on Sunday, May 25th

We’re seeking 12–15 Non-Equity actors of all genders, races, abilities, and ethnicities to portray various roles. Folks of all genders are encouraged to audition for any role.

  • Jesus: Rock Tenor

  • Judas: Rock Tenor

  • Mary Magdalene: Belter/Indie Mix

  • Pilate: Rock Baritone

  • King Herod: High Baritone

  • Peter: Tenor

  • Simon: High Baritone

  • Caiaphas: Low Bass

  • Annas: High Baritone

  • Ensemble: All Voice Types

  • Swings

FAQs

  • We are seeking 12–15 Non-Equity actors of all genders, races, abilities, and ethnicities. All roles are adult roles, and we encourage performers of all genders to audition for any role in this production.

  • No prior professional experience is required, but familiarity with rock/pop musical styles and performance is encouraged.

  • Please prepare 32 bars of a pop or rock song that aligns with the style of the show. It can be from a musical or a non-musical source. Be sure to bring a headshot and an updated resume to your audition.

  • You can sign up for a 5-minute audition slot via our Sign-Up Genius link. Slots are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

  • All auditions and callbacks will take place at:

    Workhouse Arts Center’s W3 Theatre

  • Auditions:

    • Thursday, February 13th: 3:00 PM–6:00 PM & 7:00 PM–10:00 PM

    • Saturday, February 15th: 10:00 AM–6:00 PM (Additional slots may open from 7:00 PM–10:00 PM if demand calls for it.)

      Callbacks:

      • Sunday, February 16th, beginning at 10:00 AM

  • This is a Non-Equity production with the following pay:

    • Rehearsal stipend: $100

    • Performance rate: $60 per performance

    • First Read: February 21st, 2025

    • Rehearsals: Weekday evenings and weekend days

    • Run Dates: May 10th–June 15th, 2025

      • Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 PM, Sundays at 2:00 PM (No show on May 25th).

  • Unfortunately, we do not provide housing. Actors must be local or able to secure their own housing during the contract period.
