The Workhouse Arts Center is proud to present Ghosts, a solo exhibition by MK Bailey. Ghosts contends with the unstable nature of memory. To grasp at a memory by dredging it up, again and again, is to eventually see it distorted into something else entirely. Bailey explores the psychological landscape of these corrupted memories, using acrylic paint and mediums to imagine hauntings not by a hazy and fearful apparition, but rather by a distant place and time. MK Bailey is a painter currently living and working in Washington, D.C. Her works document her day-to-day experiences, dreams, and memories, and are informed by her understanding of nostalgia as a dark force.
