Bollywood Groove & Screen Magic - Dance!

Join us for a vibrant four-week journey into the world of Bollywood! This class emphasizes not only dance moves but the power of storytelling through posture, hand gestures, facial expressions, and footwork. You'll discover how the arts can be both transformative and healing, while also having a blast! What’s the twist? At the end of the course, eligible students will be invited to take part in a music video where both dance and acting come together in a magical fusion.

Session Breakdown (Total: 2 hours)

 

1. Yoga Stretching and Pranayama (15 mins)

 

Goal: Prepare the body and mind for dance with flexibility, breath control, and mental focus.

 

Yoga Stretching (10 mins):

 

               •             Standing Stretches:

               •             Neck rolls, shoulder stretches, side bends to open the body.

               •             Forward Fold: Stretch the hamstrings and lower back.

               •             Warrior Pose (Virabhadrasana): Strengthen legs and improve focus.

               •             Seated Forward Bend (Paschimottanasana) and Butterfly Pose (Baddha Konasana): Open up the hips and legs.

 

Pranayama (5 mins):

 

               •             Deep Breathing: Inhale-exhale slowly to calm the mind and increase lung capacity.

               •             Nadi Shodhana (Alternate Nostril Breathing): Balance energy and prepare mentally for the session.

 

2. Bollywood Dance (60 mins)

 

Goal: Teach basic Bollywood dance moves and a simple choreography.

 

Part 1: Warm-up and Basic Steps (15 mins):

 

               •             Light cardio with Bollywood music to get the body moving.

               •             Teach Basic Bollywood Moves:

               •             Hip sways, simple hand gestures, basic footwork.

               •             Emphasize rhythm and movement coordination.

 

Part 2: Choreography (50 mins):

 

               •             Teach a fun and simple Bollywood dance routine:

               •             Break down the steps slowly.

               •             Gradually increase speed and connect the movements with the music.

               •             Encourage expressions, adding energy and personality to the dance.

               •             Group Performance: Have the group practice the routine together, building confidence.

 

3. Acting and Expression Techniques (45 mins)

 

Goal: Introduce basic acting techniques, focusing on screen presence and facial expressions.

 

Part 1: Body Language and Posture (10 mins):

 

               •             Teach participants how to carry themselves confidently.

               •             Focus on body posture and movement for the camera.

 

Part 2: Facial Expressions and Emotions (15 mins):

 

               •             Practice conveying emotions (happiness, sadness, anger, surprise) using facial expressions.

               •             Use mirrors to help participants see and refine their expressions.

 

Part 3: Dialogue Practice (15 mins):

 

               •             Practice delivering simple  dialogues with expression.

               •             Focus on voice modulation, timing, and blending emotion with the dialogue
