Reception: September 14, 6 pm - 8 pm

Four quilt artists working in distinctly different techniques all with a story to tell, Life's a Stich x4 looks at 4 very different ways that art quilts and fiber sculpture can use both humor and drama to express character and story. Each of these 4 quilters focuses on different kinds of characters and stories and take very different design paths in expressing them. Susan Lapham uses pure abstraction in an improvisational process to express family and fun personal memories. Painting and piecing her fabrics Susan Callahan uses a narrative and figurative approach to explore her life as a chef and the life of feeding people. Linda Strowbridge uses abstract expressionism and fiber collage to explore the architecture, character and intimate history of old buildings. Holly Cole uses expressive gesture painting, fabric collage, and up-cycled materials to explore the personality of animals and animal-human relationships.
