Background
Anita works in several mediums, most notably glass, and paint. Her works have won awards and are collected nationally. Born in Pennsylvania, she is of Hungarian descent and is formally educated in engineering and science. Inspired by the masters and her faith, she has studied with many notable teachers. Anita is a professional member of the Society of American Mosaic Artists, the Art League Gallery 75 and has served on the board of the League of Reston Artists. She is a resident artist in the glass program at the Workhouse Arts Center.
Influences
Anita collects found objects and materials for inspiration and incorporation into future works. Combining elements of unusual shapes and colors stimulate imagination and mixing unlike elements present ordinary objects in a new light. The process usually begins with an idea of color, line, and light.
Philosophy
Art is an expressive language that communicates feelings and ideas that can be shared between the artist and the viewer. A profound connection to others and our world can be experienced through the arts. Regarding teaching others, Anita believes in fostering a fun and enriching environment of mutual respect that promotes self-expression and active learning, allowing students to stretch and grow in their skill at their own pace. Creating artwork is a deeply personal process, as it is intellectual, emotional and intuitive to differing degrees. Each student will be treated as an individual, as both teacher and student benefit from interactions in the classroom. A strong foundation will consist of the learning the basics of several methods and handling of various tools and materials. Planning, design, and fabrication of each unique creation would be discussed as needed.
