Background
Catie Poneck is a Texas-born, New York City-educated artist, writer, and multifaceted creative. She earned her BFA in Painting, along with minors in Creative Writing and Art History, from Pratt Institute in 2023. Currently, she works from her studio at The Workhouse Arts Center and shares her thoughts and work online via Substack.
Beyond her studio practice, Catie is also an educator, teaching at Arts Club DC. When she’s not creating, she enjoys spending time at home with her fiancé, Jason, and their beloved pets—Lucy, their dog, and three cats, Kitten, Cleo, and Susu. She is also eagerly looking forward to her wedding in October.
Philosophy
Catie’s artistic practice is deeply influenced by her diverse background in fine art, design, writing, and art history. She approaches her artistic process with a dynamic and interdisciplinary perspective, bringing together all of her diverse interests. Catie's artistic joy lies in being able to celebrate texture and form in her work, and by creating pieces that are welcoming to any audience. Often, you'll find Catie inviting people into her studio to reach out and touch the work itself.
Catie is also an educator at the Workhouse.
