The Annual Workhouse Clay International exhibition represents the depth and breadth of contemporary functional and sculptural ceramic artworks being created throughout the country. The exhibition is an exciting opportunity to see a variety of styles and techniques that encompass the field of contemporary ceramic arts.
Juror’s Statement
“Narrowing down a large pool of exciting, creative and well-crafted work is never easy. I'm grateful to all the applicants for allowing me to look at their submissions to curate a show of this nature. I chose to curate a show that is as diverse in artists as it is in the artwork present. The work spans different techniques and practices in clay ranging from figurative, utilitarian, installation and process driven. Through this curation I present work that conveys humor, while other pieces carry social political commentary, yet all of the pieces are finely considered and crafted objects. Congratulations to all the artists in the show and thank you to everyone that submitted work for consideration.”
- George Rodriguez
