Medium: Drawing and Mixed Media
Background
Grant figured out that he could draw when he was six years old. From that day forward he never stopped drawing, which is why his skills excelled to mastery level. Always being the best at drawing out of his peers, he would finally choose art as a career after attending college at the Academy of Art University. Grant spent 6 years selling art in Jackson Square and creating art commissions. After meeting the love of his life, his dream of becoming a father led him to Virginia.
Artistic Philosophy
Hailing from New Orleans Grant brings the vibrancy of Jackson Square to the DMV area. Grant's Passion for art comes from his curiosity he had as a child to explore the creative side of life. The mystery of what the medium will do when applied to the canvas/paper will always drive his initiative to push himself artistically. The drawings appear off his fingers as if the charcoal is part of him. His love for charcoal began when he witnessed a professor wield a charcoal stick as if it was an extension of his body. Grant felt a drive to master it in the same manner as he did. Building depth with charcoal in a drawing that creates dimension, and evokes the emotion of a viewer, is why Grant is hooked on the charcoal medium. Grant strives to learn new mediums and master old ones to keep his skills finally tuned. Trying to pursue art as a hobby is one thing, but for Grant art is so much more. Which is why he has chosen to eat, sleep, and breath art. This is why he is here today!
