Workhouse Arts Center Unveils (un)Endangered Species: Re-imagined Places by Andi Cullins
A Bold Fusion of Fabric, Sculpture, and Cultural Narratives
LORTON, VA February 14, 2025 – Workhouse Arts Center proudly presents (un)Endangered Species: Re-imagined Places, an exhibition by acclaimed artist Andi Cullins. On view now until March 23, 2025, in the Muse Gallery (Building W-16, 1st Floor), this groundbreaking exhibit transforms the familiar into the extraordinary, offering a dynamic interplay of textile, sculpture, and storytelling.
Through her innovative CODE SWITCH quilt and fabric mosaics, Cullins seamlessly blends African and Australian Aboriginal textile patterns with western fabrics and her own hand-dyed creations. These intricate compositions reimagine landscapes and wildlife, blurring the boundaries between two-dimensional and three-dimensional art. By extending her patterns into the sculptural realm, she breathes new life into found and discarded objects, transforming them into vibrant, thought-provoking creatures.
Exhibit Highlights:
Code Switch Quilt and Fabric Mosaics – A striking fusion of traditional and contemporary textile designs, reinventing iconic imagery.
3D Transformations – Found objects reborn as intricate, patterned creatures, rich with symbolism and cultural depth.
Immersive Environment – A reimagined world where fabric and form merge, creating a visually stunning exploration of movement, color, and storytelling.
