2nd Saturday Open House - Theme LOVE

Get ready to fall in love with creativity at Workhouse Arts Center’s 2nd Saturday Event!

This month, we’re celebrating all things LOVE with an unforgettable evening of art, connection, and fun. Whether you’re here for the FREE activities, the hands-on workshops, or just to soak up the romantic vibes, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Don’t miss out on this heartwarming celebration!

Event Highlights  

  • Art Studio Open House: Formerly known as Art Walk, this event invites you to explore our artist studios, meet the talented creators behind the masterpieces, and discover unique art pieces available for purchase. Don’t forget to explore the current exhibits across all the buildings for even more inspiration!  

  • Workhouse Treasure Hunt: Search for six “stray cats” hidden throughout all six (6) of the artist studio buildings and win a prize! If you’re lucky enough to find one of the “stray cats,” go to the W16 Visitor Center for your prize! 

  • Suffrage Valentine Making – Create historic-style Valentines in the museum. 

  • Prison Reimagined Reception – Celebrate the installation of Prison Reimagined at the Workhouse Arts Center. Representatives from Justice Arts Coalition, our partner in this exhibition, discuss the impact of this installation at a former carceral site. The curator for the exhibition, Caddell “Monty” Kivett, currently incarcerated in North Carolina, calls in to make remarks.

  • Ballroom Dance Class: Learn to dance like a pro and join our Ballroom Dance Class with Alan Golombek, where you’ll master elegant moves and techniques in a fun, supportive environment. (Location: Building W4, Room 410) >>> Register Here

  • Improv Theater Class: Experience the spontaneous fun of improvisation! Whether you're an experienced performer or new to improv, this free class invites participants of all skill levels to explore quick-thinking, communication, and confidence-building through exciting games and exercises.
