To celebrate the Dog Days of Summer, we have planned many fun indoor and outdoor activities for this month’s Second Saturday. As always, a vast collection of beautiful artwork will be on display for viewing and purchasing. Join in one or all of our special art activities and enjoy a free concert outside. And, because we couldn’t help ourselves, we’re inviting pet owners to bring their furry friends to our Dog Days of Summer celebration to enjoy the outdoor campus as well!

• Try Me Flameworking Demo 6-8 PM, Building 7

• Get a pet portraits! 6-9 PM, in front of LOVE Sign and Building 10

  • Pet portraits commissions in front of LOVE Sign by Lura Bovee (Price depending on commission)

  • Pet caricatures in Building 10 by Grant Baudoin ($25)

• Workhouse Bloodhound History 6-9 PM, Building 2 the Lucy Burns Museum

• Animal Communicator 6-9 PM, in front of Building 6

• Fairfax County Animal Shelter 6-9 PM, in front of Building 10

• Raku Firing Ceramic Demo 6-9 PM, Building 8 at the Kiln Yard

• Make & Take 6-9 PM, Building 10

  • Paint a sunburst rock for your garden or desk. ($15)

• Create and Sip: Dog Portraits 6:30-8:30 PM ($30), Campus Quad near LOVE Sign (inclement weather, inside Building 16)

  • Learn to use markers on paper to create stylized caricatures of dogs in portraits full of happiness and colorful flair!

• Ocho de Bastos Performance 7:30 PM - 8:30 PM, Rizer Pavilion

  • Part of the Fairfax County-sponsored Mt. Vernon Nights

Food trucks available are GB’s Grill, Glo’s Kitchen, and Captain Cookie and The Milkman

*Please Note: Dogs are only allowed in the Quad area; they are prohibited inside the galleries or artists’ buildings.
